Yes! According to the The State of the World's Children 2005, over one billion children are denied a healthy and safe upbringing. That’s over 15% of the world’s population! This includes over 90 million children who are effectively starving to death.
In South Africa, one of the most unequal societies in the world, millions of children are in need. Statistics South Africa finds that 60% of its children are in some kind of poverty. That’s over 10 million!
What is worse, half of these children - over 5 million - are characterized as severely deprived. |

149 million children in developing countries still suffer from malnutrition |

Of the more than 100 million out-of-school youth, 60 million are girls. |
